Airside fuel tank leak detection  

The refuelling of planes is one of the most dangerous tasks carried out at an airport. 

Leeds Bradford Airport required a leak detection system for its Jet A1 fuel tanks to mitigate the risk of fire or explosion during the refuelling process. The system is installed on all above-ground fuel tanks. 

Working in the challenging, airside environment at the busy airport, Meson installed the system and was commended by Leeds Bradford Airport for the quality of work that took place. Meson is now responsible for the annual inspection of all leak detection units around the airport. 

Working airside required the team to not only gain security clearance but also undertake a driving course to safely navigate the airside areas of the airport.
